Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott recently went down with a freak ankle injury in the second half of their Week 6 game against the New York Giants. His recovery will reportedly take four to six months which already rules him out for the remainder of the 2020 NFL season.

Cowboys team Vice President Stephen Jones spoke in response to the matter and highlighted the veteran's resiliency to come back even stronger next season, via The Athletic's Jon Machota:

Prescott finished the game with 166 receiving yards on 14-of-21 passes completed along with a sack and an interception. Veteran backup Andy Dalton slotted under center in lieu of his absence and took over the team's offense.

He recorded a 111 passing yard-output on an efficient 9/11 passing clip in his debut as a Dallas Cowboy. Running back Ezekiel Elliott carried the majority of the scoring load for the team as he tallied two touchdowns on 91 rushing yards on 19 carries. Rookie wideout CeeDee Lamb led with 124 receiving yards on eight receptions while pass-catcher Michael Gallup produced 73 yards on four receptions.

America's Team was able to escape the scoring exhibition put up by Giants running back Devonta Freeman and tight end Evan Engram who scored a touchdown each for Big Blue. Sophomore wide receiver Darius Slayton also caused trouble with 129 receiving yards on eight receptions in the game.

The Cowboys rallied behind Prescott's injury and came out on top with a 37-34 win to improve to a 2-3 overall record. Meanwhile, their division rival in the Giants fell to a winless 0-5 record to settle in the cellar-dwelling spot in the NFC East.

Dallas will proceed in their coming games without their QB1 at the helm. The new-look offense headed by Dalton will be tested come October 19 as they face the Arizona Cardinals for Monday Night Football.
