Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman wants Jerry Jones to put coach Jimmy Johnson into the Cowboys ring of honor.

During Aikman's weekly radio appearance on 1310 The Ticket, via the Dallas Morning News, the former Cowboys gunslinger said he wants Jerry Jones to put his pride aside, and give the Jimmy Johnson the honor while both guys are still alive.

“He’s going to go in. At some point, Jimmy Johnson will be in the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor,” Troy Aikman said. “I just hope it’s when they’re both alive. It’s a moment that players want, and more importantly, it’s a moment I think the fans want. . . .

“[Johnson] going into the Hall of Fame and then not being in the Ring of Honor I think probably brings about a perception — although, probably not a wrong one — that Jerry probably doesn’t want. So, I would think [Johnson going into the Ring of Honor] will happen pretty soon, and I look forward to it when it does.”

Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Jones had a massive falling out after Johnson led the Cowboys to two Super Bowl victories. Jones said that any coach could win Super Bowls with the roster he was working with. That didn't sit well with Jonson, resulting in both guys eventually deciding to go in a different direction.

Jones did publicly congratulate Johnson on making the Hall of Fame, and now it's probably time for him to invite to be apart of the Cowboys ring of honor. It's a bit shocking that a coach or player can make the Hall of Fame, before earning the credit from their team.
