The Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott are still in a disagreement about the length of his next contract, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Prescott reportedly wants four years, while the Cowboys want five. Prescott is expected to sign his franchise tag Monday, something he is considering as the fifth year of his contract. The franchise tag is scheduled to pay him $31.4 million, which means a long-term deal is going to have to be extra enticing.

With Prescott signing the franchise tag, the ball is now in his court in terms of a long-term deal. The Cowboys now can't pull the franchise tag offer from him, which means if the deal isn't done by July 15, he will be making the $31.4 million in 2020.

Prescott is guaranteed the big payday, and if he doesn't get the deal done he wants he can always look for a long-term deal after next season.

The former Mississippi State standout was a fourth-round draft pick, so his rookie contract was quite the bargain for the Cowboys, His four-year deal paid him less than $3 million. The Cowboys have been spoiled getting a starting quarterback at such a cheap price for the last few years, which is why it makes even more sense that he is going to make sure he gets exactly what he wants when it comes to this new contract.

Dak Prescott is coming off a season in which he threw for 4,902 yards and 30 touchdowns. Despite those big numbers, the Cowboys went just 8-8.
