Chicago Cubs star Javy Baez is used to providing thrilling plays. He has done it all throughout his career in all phases of his game. He can flash the leather in the field and has some eye-popping snap tags on his resume. At the dish, Baez has provided moonshot home runs and has some otherworldly stolen bases. On Thursday, he added another absolutely jaw-dropping play to his reel.

In the top of the third inning with the Cubs leading the Pirates 1-0, Baez was at the plate. Willson Contreras was on second base with two outs. Baez grounded the ball to third, the throw was off the line just a bit. Pirates first baseman Will Craig went to tag Baez, who backpedaled back toward home plate while Contreras flew around third base and went home. Contreras was safe at the plate and Baez made it to first on an errant throw in an unbelievable display of heads-up play.

Just look for yourselves:

It's hard to imagine anyone has ever seen anything remotely close to that before in an MLB game. The Cubs star shortstop is always coming up with something new and flashy and off-the-cuff that leaves everyone baffled.

Baez would come around to score in the inning, so what should've been a 1-0 lead going to the bottom of the third for the Cubs turned into a 3-0 advantage as Chicago looks for the sweep.

Tip of the cap to Javy Baez for providing yet another play for the Cubs that has left baseball fans wondering what the hell just happened. Also, just what in the world was Craig thinking?!
