The Chicago Cubs were able to bring Marcus Stroman to town before the MLB lockout put a hold on all offseason activity, and it looks as if the former New York Met is grateful to have found a new home. The reasoning may not be why you'd think, however. Stroman went on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon after bumping into former teammate Michael Conforto. After a fan commented saying they want Conforto to get a big contract, Stroman replied in a since-deleted tweet saying, “I hope he's well-paid, elsewhere,” with a shrug emoji, per the NY Post.

That comment lit the torch for what would be a series of anti-Mets sentiments from Stroman, though they have since been deleted. In his since-deleted tweets, Stroman reportedly suggested that Mets GM Billy Eppler was one of the main reasons he was happy not to have re-signed with the organization this offseason.

The Mets hired Eppler to become their new GM back in November. He previously worked in the Los Angeles Angels' front office for six seasons, working as the team's general manager, before getting poached by the Mets, in what was an unpopular decision in the eyes of Stroman.

Stroman signed with the Chicago Cubs on a three-year contract in December, just before the lockout. Whether a return to the Mets was even on the table for Stroman is unclear, but the pitcher is suggesting that he wasn't interested in playing for the team after they hired Eppler to the role of general manager.
