Two-time WBC super middleweight champion David Benavidez sent out a clear warning to current unified super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. Benavidez seeks to have a match against Alvarez in the squared circle in the near future.

Via TMZ Sports:

“I’ll knock [Canelo] out! I'll stop him! It takes a lot of balls to say that but the reason why I'm saying that is because I really fully, truly believe I'm the one that can beat and stop Canelo.”

Benavidez continued to show his eagerness to face the Mexican boxer, claimed he isn't like any other opponent Alvarez has faced in the past:

“The top people [Canelo's] fought, they just look like they're scared of him and they just respect him too much, but me, I feel like I'm a young, hungry lion! I need that fight because I wanna show the fans how good I really am.”

In addition, the 24-year-old Benavidez remains confident boxing fans are highly awaiting his potential bout against the world's No.1 pound-for-pound boxer:

“He's gonna try avoid me as long as possible, but I feel like at the end of the day, this fight is gonna be demanded,” Benavidez says.

Before a fight against Alvarez comes to fruition, Benavidez will have to put his undefeated 23-0 record on the line when he faces Ronald Ellis on March 13. He is set to make an appearance in the same venue in Montville, Connecticut where he previously had a dominant showing against Colombian boxer Roamer Angulo in his latest fight back in August 2020.

Benavidez emerged victorious by way of a 10th-round stoppage to keep his unblemished record heading to the 24th match of his young career. On the other hand, Alvarez is also coming off a stellar performance against an underdog in Turkish fighter Avni Yildirim, whom he defeated via third-round TKO in February 2021.

After the overwhelming victory, the 30-year-old Mexican national is set to defend his title against a Briton challenger in Billy Ray Saunders on May 8.

As it stands today, serious talks regarding David Benavidez's potential match against Canelo Alvarez have yet to commence between the two sides. However, Benavidez will likely get a chance to fight the megastar if he continues to impress in his upcoming matches moving forward.
