Colorado football coach Deion Sanders doesn't care what the betting odds say. TCU is a 21-point favorite over the Colorado football team in Deion Sanders' debut as the Buffaloes' head coach. Sanders has no trouble believing that Colorado can overcome those odds Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas.

“Certainly,” Sanders told USA Today when asked if Colorado can beat TCU. “This team is us. This is what we’ve hand-picked. Yes, we definitely plan on doing that.”

It isn't just Saturday's opener that's expected to be a struggle for the Buffaloes. The over/under win total for the Colorado football team is just 3.5 wins. That means a paltry 4-12 record would qualify as exceeding expectations.

Sanders has a message for those betting against his team.

“Tell ‘em to bet everything they got on it,” Sanders said. “On what we ain’t going to do. And see where that gets them … It’s easy to talk that trash without putting nothing on it. Everybody can do that when you’re not risking nothing. It’s just something you’re saying that you think is sexy. People don’t do their homework.

“This guy has won all his life,” Sanders said of his son Shedeur, Colorado's starting quarterback. “Pee-wee league, we won. High school, we won. State titles. We’ve always won, man. We don’t really lose. It’s only a matter of time.”

The preseason media poll projects Colorado to finish 11th in the final Pac-12 standings. The Buffaloes went 1-11 in 2022, giving the team its sixth straight losing season.

Sanders had a 27-6 record as the head coach of Jackson State.
