Sacramento Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins is just as puzzled as many fans regarding his team’s drafting strategy.

In the 2016 NBA draft, the Kings traded the number eirhgt pick to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for #13 and #28. They then drafted Greek center Georgios Papagiannis and ex-Kentucky center Skal Labissiere with the picks.

The Kings obviously have star power in their front court already, with Cousins playing at a considerably higher level than the rest of his team. Last year, they drafted seven-foot forward Willie Cauley-Stein and have Kosta Koufos coming off the bench, providing added size and experience.

There is a logjam in the Kings front court, and Cousins doesn’t get it. As per Sacramento Bee’s Jason Jones, he made it clear that he cannot influence the perplexing decisions made by management.

“I do my job,” Cousins said after Team USA's practice on Monday. “I can't control it. I control what I can control.”

Around the same time that his team drafted Papagiannis, Cousins sent out an ambiguous tweet that some believed to be critical of the pick.

Boogie went on to rebuke the claims, but it's clear he wasn’t hugely enamored with the decision. The Kings have a wealth of size and could have benefited from improving their wing talent to surround Cousins with a stronger supporting cast.

“I don't really understand what's going on,” Cousins said. “I just control what I can control.”

It may be the case that the Kings have simply selected what they deemed to be the best players left on the board; fans, and Boogie, will have to wait and see how it plays out.
