The injury bug is not only restricted to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

When it was revealed that Curry would be out through at least the first few games of the Western Conference Semifinals, and perhaps even longer, it appeared that the Los Angeles Clippers had the opening they needed to upset Golden State and reach the Western Finals for the first time in franchise history.

Now, just getting out of the first round is in jeopardy.

Their best two players, Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, suffered injures in Game 4 against the Portland Trail Blazers that will keep them out for the rest of the postseason. Talk about a devastating blow for one of the league's most tortured franchises.

Some fans and members of the media are speculating that the Clippers are inherently cursed, for reasons unknown.

Arash Markazi of ESPN posed the question to head coach Doc Rivers earlier today after the news broke about CP3 and Griffin. He emphatically shut down any notion of a curse existing.

“Is it the Billy Goat? I don't know what it is. Babe Ruth never played for us,” Rivers said. “We didn't trade him. There's no jinx there. I don't know. It's bum's luck three years in a row. What can you do? All you can do is keep going. This one was worse than all of them by far basketball-wise.

“Socially, you can make the case the the other one was. I get down for like five minutes and I was last night but you wake up in the morning and you feel like we're going to find a way and it's my job to get them to feel like I feel and if we do that I think we'll have a fighting chance.”
