Over just 30.9 innings this season, Kershaw continues to astound even as he ages. He has a 1.80 ERA, a WHIP of .733, 32 strikeouts and only three walks. His season started with a perfect game through seven innings against the Minnesota Twins but has also seen him out for over a month with SI joint inflammation.
Kershaw was previously aiming for a return to action this Sunday yet is able to return a day earlier. The Dodgers are certainly thrilled that the lefty legend is healthy again to aid their pitching roation. Getting him back in Oracle Park, where he has found hismelf at home throughout his career, is fortuitous. The San Francisco lineup, particularly Joc Pederson and Mike Yastrzemski, will, challenge him.
Although the Dodgers still have one of the best records in baseball, the San Diego Padres are approaching their lead in the NL West. Having Kershaw back in the lineup is a big step towards a return to dominance.
