Starting in Genshin Impact version 2.0, miHoYo will introduce the “Epitomized Path” system, which helps players have a safe guarantee on a 5-star weapon they desire from a Weapon Wish banner.

The gacha system of Genshin Impact has been generally well tolerated by most players since the first wish event came out. This is mostly thanks to the game's pity system. The pity system guarantees getting 4-star and 5-star rewards after a certain number of pulls, despite the surprisingly low drop rate for 5-star rewards.

However, this only seems to be the case for Genshin Impact Character Event wishes, which gives players a 50-50 chance of getting the featured 5-star character within 90 wishes. If they didn't get the featured 5-star, then the next 90 wishes will guarantee it.

Does Genshin Impact 2.0's new Epitomized Path help in getting desired Weapon Wish Banners?

Genshin Impact Weapon Wish events have always been a notorious ordeal for players, especially for big spenders who are trying to obtain a specific 5-star weapon they want. Each wish event features two 5-star weapons. Every time the player reaches the pity, they always have a 50% chance of getting either weapon.

One notable case was during the Weapon Wish banner for the Staff of Homa and Wolf’s Gravestone. Certain players have been complaining about getting multiple Gravestones, before getting a single Staff of Homa that their newly-obtained Hu Tao desperately needs. This led to frustrated players worrying about spending too much without a safe guarantee.

Epitomized Path will allow players to choose a desired 5-star weapon when the event starts. When a player obtains a 5-star weapon other than their desired choice, they gain a Fate Point. Once they have two Fate Points accumulated, the next 5-star weapon is guaranteed to be their weapon of choice.

In the worst-case scenario, players will need to wish 240 times in order to get the weapon. However, it’s better than not having a guarantee at all. So, in a way, this new system helps – but only if you have the Primogems, Fates, or money to burn.
