With players all around the NFL seemingly headed in the wrong direction with COVID, the Miami Dolphins received some good news Friday. According to NFL Network reporter Cameron Wolfe, the Dolphins have activated both Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed from the league's COVID reserve list. Both players were seen at practice Friday.

It is a perfect time for the Dolphins to get their running backs ready for action. Miami is coming off of their bye week and faces the lowly New York Jets on Sunday.

Miami has thrust themselves into the AFC playoff picture during their five game winning streak. The Dolphins started the season 1-7. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was being thrown to the wolves in the sports media. Trade rumors were swirling around Deshaun Watson and Tagovailoa. But quietly, Tua has played pretty well this season, and particularly during the win streak.

Tagovailoa has 12 touchdown passes to only six interceptions. He has been very efficient, completing 71% of his passes, which is among the best in the NFL.

The Dolphins will be without Tagovailoa's top receiving weapon, rookie wide receiver Jalen Waddle. Waddle was placed on the league's COVID reserve list earlier in the week.

But getting Myles Gaskin off the list is a big boost for Miami. The Jets have been gashed on the ground, allowing over 138 rushing yards per game. That is 30th in the NFL.

It would make a lot of sense for Miami to lean heavily on the ground game Sunday with Tagovailoa's favorite target out this week. With a win, Miami would move one step closer to making NFL history and reach the playoffs after starting 1-7.
