It has been another inauspicious year for the Miami Dolphins after a 4-6 start to the 2017 NFL season. However, the Dolphins finally got the spark on offense they needed in the form of backup quarterback Matt Moore during the second half of their matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Does this mean Jay Cutler should be worried?

Moore filled in nicely after starting quarterback Jay Cutler was knocked out of the game with a head injury. Despite his productive outing, head coach Adam Gase says Cutler will remain the starter as long as he is healthy, according to Berry Jackson of the Miami Herald:

“He’s done everything I’ve asked him to do. There’s no reason for me to say he’s not,” Gase said.

Gase's comments may come as a bit of a surprise considering the performances displayed by these two quarterbacks on Sunday. Prior to his injury, Cutler was just 6-of-12 for 83 yards and had already thrown three interceptions in the first half.

Needless to say, the offense was extremely stagnant up to that point before Moore came in. However, the backup QB still managed to finish 17-of 28 for 282 yards and a touchdown while nearly rallying the Dolphins to a comeback victory. Although Gase is adamant about Cutler as his starter, that could very well change if the veteran QB's performance continues to fluctuate each week.

It is also worth noting that, with Miami way outside the playoff bubble and Cutler not exactly a long-term guy for the franchise, it is strange the team is so committed to him.
