When the Miami Dolphins acquired Josh Rosen via trade with the Arizona Cardinals during draft weekend last April, many expected him to ultimately win the Dolphins' starting quarterback job in his first season with the club.

After all, he was competing with journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick, who did not factor into Miami's future plans whatsoever.

Well, Rosen fell behind Fitzpatrick to start the season, replaced him in Week 3 and lasted a whole three starts before the Dolphins went back to Fitzpatrick.

So, with just two games remaining in 2019, you would think Miami would want to give Rosen some more burn to see what he has, but apparently, Brian Flores and Co. have no intention of doing that:

“We will always do what we feel is in the best interests of this team and play the guy that gives us the best chance to win; we feel that’s Ryan,” Flores said, according to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald. “It’s [been] that way for the last eight to 10 weeks.”

In six appearances and three starts this season, Rosen has thrown for 567 yards, one touchdown and five interceptions while completing just 53.2 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 52.

Seems like that was enough of a sample size for Flores:

“You can always get more information, but we have what we have [and that’s] practice reps and the game reps he had and his play for [Arizona] a year ago,” Flores said. “The most important thing is what we see in practice on a weekly basis.”

Rosen has two years remaining on his deal, but you have to wonder if he'll ever really get much of a chance in South Beach.
