Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel is the latest offensive mastermind to emerge in the NFL. After years under the tutelage under San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, McDaniel has brought what he's learned to Miami, and developed it into a new system as the Dolphins head coach the past two years.

His offense has resulted in a ton of success for Miami, both individually for players and as a team. The Dolphins are first in total and passing yards per game as well as second in rushing yards and points per game. Individually, wide receiver Tyreek Hill is having a career year and in MVP conversations while already having 1,481 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is tied for second in touchdown passes and third in passing yards. Running back Raheem Mostert is third in rushing with 828 yards while averaging 5.1 yards per carry and leading the NFL with 14 rushing touchdowns. When De'Von Achane is healthy, he's averaging a whopping 9.5 yards per carry.

To Mostert, it's no surprise that McDaniel and their offense has had this much success.

“I definitely did. No question,” Mostert told Kay Adams when asked if he knew Mike McDaniel would be an elite coach on the Up & Adams Show. “If you talk to anybody that's been around him for some years, they would say the same thing. He's just brilliant. You see what we're doing this year. We're leading the league in all these different stats and categories. Individual players are having great careers and stuff like that. Tyreek's on pace to hit that 2,000 mark, that's gonna be huge … it shows the way that coach McDaniel does everything.”

Prior to joining McDaniel on the Dolphins, Raheem Mostert was with him on the 49ers for five years while McDaniel was the team's run-game coordinator and later offensive coordinator. Mostert was one of the first across the NFL to have a first-hand view at the potential McDaniel had as a coach.
