The Miami Dolphins are bound for success for the coming future as the front office has acquired a plethora of draft picks. They also have a ton of cap space for the years beyond 2021, giving this franchise everything they need to stack the roster. After having an up-and-down rookie season, the Dolphins are hopeful that Tua Tagovailoa will become the franchise quarterback they believe he is. David Carr, a former NFL player, not turned analyst, spoke in high regard when talking about Tagovailoa, comparing him to the legendary quarterback, Steve Young, per Yahoo Sports.

“…when you look at the film, you see similarities, and you see why people get excited and why the Miami Dolphins are excited. He looks like Steve Young. I mean, that's the guy he is going to turn into. It's just going to take a little time,” said Carr.

At first glance, it comes off as a wild take. However, diving deeper into the statistics, Carr's opinion of the Dolphins' signal-caller holds merit. Steve Young had a less than desirable start to his career, as he didn't really take over until his seventh season in the league. He played as Joe Montana's backup until he eventually became the starter. In fact, Young's best years were all after he turned 30 years. According to Pro Football Reference, Young finished with 33,124 yards and 232 touchdowns through the air in his career. He was also an early version of a dual-threat quarterback, as he finished with 4,239 rushing yards and an additional 43 rushing touchdowns.

After Tua's less-than-stellar rookie season, he still has time to adjust to the professional level. The Dolphins are doing everything in their power to build a juggernaut around him. His playing style is similar to Steve Young, and if that's his ceiling, then the Dolphins could find themselves in a Super Bowl sooner, rather than later.
