Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was not happy with the way he played in Saturday's 20-13 loss to the Chicago Bears, especially his brutal interception in the second quarter of the contest.

The Dolphins actually led 13-3 at the half, but the starting offense did not score a touchdown and it was Jacoby Brissett who connected with Salvon Ahmed to extend the lead. As for Tagovailoa, he wasted his chance at the end zone when his pass to TE Adam Shaheen was intercepted.

It turned out to be Tua's last throw of the game, with his promising start getting a frustrating ending. As Miami Herald noted, he ended up with a rather disappointing 62.3 quarterback rating.

The second-year signal-caller–who had his first taste of preseason football with the Dolphins after it was canceled last year due to the pandemic–admitted that he was too slow in the read which resulted to the interception. Tagovailoa was also pretty hard on himself, acknowledging that he committed a lot of mistakes.

“To me, Adam looked wide open,” Tagovailoa said of the interception, per Miami Herald. “I was late. In this league you can never be late over the middle in the red area. Those are recipes for disaster. That’s what happened.

“I think the better question for that is what didn’t I do wrong? I thought I did alright. There are a lot of things we need to clean up offensively–with our communication, more so our execution with our plays that we were given.”

Fortunately for Tua Tagovailoa, it's the preseason and it is where he can commit mistakes and learn from it. The Dolphins have two more games in the preseason to allow the 23-year-old get more comfortable with the plays and his receivers.

Of course, the pressure is on Tua to perform given there is always bound to be competition at the QB1 spot, but there is no doubt that Dolphins are betting on him to be the star of the squad.
