Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard was arrested for domestic battery by the Davie Police Department, according to Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.

Wolfe added that the incident involved his fiancé, but there weren't many other details surrounding the incident. This is a concerning development for a player who was expected to be an anchor of the Dolphins defense going forward.

This season, however, was a disappointing one for Howard as he dealt with a knee injury that landed him on injured reserve. During the middle of December, Howard underwent knee surgery although Dolphins' coach Brian Flores didn't want to give many details on it, or how long the recovery process might take.

“He had surgery on his knee,” head coach Brian Flores replied when asked about Howard on Thursday via ThePhinInsider. “I’m not going to go into details on exactly what type of surgery he had, but he had surgery on his knee as you can see.”

“I don’t like to go into detail about specific injuries and what happened, so I’ll just stay away from that one. He had surgery. He’s recovering. Surgery went well and he’s recovering. He’s going to do everything possible to get himself back and ready to go as quickly as possible.”

It was expected that he would be back for training camp, and maybe even OTA's if rehabbing went well. The Dolphins have not released a statement yet on the situation, but stay tuned to ClutchPoints for all the latest developments relating to this breaking news.
