When the Miami Dolphins signed then retired quarterback Jay Cutler, people were a bit perplexed. Not only due to the fact that a leopard rarely changes the spots on its coat that late in life, but because Cutler can never finish a season standing upright.

Basically, Jay Cutler has a habit of both throwing the ball to the other team and getting injured.

The inevitable happened on Sunday, as the Miami gunslinger cracked his ribs and is now going to be out roughly two-three weeks with the injury.

There will obviously be more testing on Monday to confirm the initial diagnosis.

“Right now they're going to take him to get a MRI, X-ray, figure out what it is, confirm,” head coach Adam Gase said after the game. “They have an idea. I didn't really get into it with them. It's something with his chest — the chest and ribs area.”

Matt Moore finished the game 13-of-21 for 188 yards and the two touchdowns after replacing Cutler. He also threw an interception… because Dolphins!

Before he was injured, Cutler was 12-of-16 for 138 yards with two touchdowns and one interception (because Cutler).

With the early time-frame only being a few weeks, it is likely that Miami will just attempt to ride this stretch out and play with who it has, rather than going to the scrap heap to find another signal-caller to join the roster.

When Monday comes and goes, and more information comes to light, we will keep you updated if the diagnosis changes from what is originally projected.
