The Jacksonville Jaguars embarked on a new era on Saturday, as they officially introduced Doug Pederson as their next head coach.

The Jaguars underwent an extensive search for a new head coach, and it all kicked off when they interviewed Pederson in late December. After bringing him back for a second interview earlier in the month, the team came to terms with the former Philadelphia Eagles head coach to fill their head coaching vacancy.

Among Pederson’s first orders of business will be working with Trevor Lawrence. Pederson noted during his introductory press conference that he had done his own research on the former Clemson quarterback. He also spoke with coaches that coached against Lawrence in his rookie year, and there was one resounding message that he received from them regarding the former No. 1 overall draft pick.

“Sky’s the limit,” Pederson said.

Lawrence had a roller-coaster rookie season, as he threw a league-high 17 interceptions and notched a 71.9 passer rating. Pederson well recognizes that Lawrence did not have his most efficient rookie campaign, but he is looking forward to getting the best out of his potential next season.

“It is unfortunate that things didn't necessarily go smoothly this past year, but that's behind us now,” Pederson said. “I'm just excited to come in here, roll up my sleeves, go to work, create a system that enhances his skill set and be successful.”

It will be noteworthy to see the changes Pederson has in store for his coaching staff. More so, a crucial offseason awaits the Jaguars, especially as they hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
