Draymond Green had yet another spectacular game at both ends of the floor during the Golden State Warriors‘ 115-104 Game 2 victory against the Utah Jazz — but it wasn't his defensive antics that caught the attention of the home crowd at Oracle Arena, but a rather ominous sign of him rubbing his left knee with 7:24 remaining in the game.
Green had collided with Rudy Gobert during an offensive play, but stayed behind on the floor after he attempted to get up in a hurry, where his left knee buckled before falling to the floor again.
“I knew my knee was just locking up a little bit,” Green told reporters, per Monte Pool of NBC Sports Bay Area. “I’ve had it before, a little tweak. It wasn't like a huge sigh of relief, because I kind of knew what it was from the jump. But obviously it's always good to know you're OK.”
The All-Star forward was able to get up in his own power and walk to the locker room, eventually returning during the last four minutes of the game to seal the win.
“Any time any of our guys go down it's a concern,” interim head coach Mike Brown said. “A guy like Draymond does so much for us on both ends of the floor, and he very seldom goes down. So when he did, you think that initially it's got to be serious.
“But I went over and asked him if he was all right, and right away he said yes. I don't know if he saw me, but I went over and huddled with my coaches pretty quickly after that because I knew he was all right.”
Green put up yet another combo platter of 21 points, seven rebounds, six assists, four steals, and a block in his 36-minute stint on the court, highlighted by an uncharacteristic 5-of-8 from beyond the arc.
The Warriors will likely monitor his condition and provide an update prior to Saturday's Game 3 at Salt Lake City.
