Dustin Poirier has made it a habit to be all class throughout his career. That hasn't changed following his loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 269.
Dustin Poirier challenged Charles Oliveira for his lightweight title at UFC 269. The fight got off to an excellent start for Poirier as the two were in a stand-up war to kick things off in round one.
Things started to turn in the second round when Charles Oliveira took the fight to the ground. After that, the champion took over and Dustin Poirier lost control of the fight.
The Louisiana native spoke about the loss at UFC 269 immediately after the fact.
“I can do anything I put my mind to. I can fight for another belt. I can go on another streak. I can claw and climb and get back to wherever I want to be. It’s just, ‘Do I want to?’ That’s the question I’ve got to look in the mirror and answer. Do I want to do it again? Do I want to go down that road again? That answer will come in the next couple days or couple weeks.”
Dustin Poirier took to Twitter in his first statement since the UFC post-fight press conference.
“What a beautiful journey, the ups and the downs. Im grateful for all of it.”
The belt at UFC 269 could have been for the most wholesome championship because both men are known for how kind they are. It will be interesting to see what direction Poirier goes in after this one.
