The 2017 NFL season had to be a whirlwind of emotion for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. To go from being an MVP candidate looking to lead his team to its first Super Bowl win to watching someone else do it had to be tough.

He had to be happy for the team and Nick Foles. But at the same time, it would be easy to see if he was a little hurt by how things played out as well. As it turns out, he was.

In a recent post by ESPN’s Tim McManus, he admitted to feeling a little jealousy:

“You've got to fight that. It's human nature to want to be on that podium and be that guy. You grow up wanting to do that as a kid, but to not be able to be up there, I would not rather have anyone else be up there than Nick.”

It is easy to see where he’s coming from. For the bulk of the season, he had guided the team to the top of the NFC. He had them poised and ready to do something the franchise had never done. Had he completed the season with the same result, his legacy as an Eagles quarterback would have been cemented just two years into his career.

But instead, he had to watch someone else take a bow.

He went on to say that his rehab is going well but it remains to be seen when he’ll return. Officially, the team is still targeting Week One.
