In the week following the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots, many analysts and fans have pondered whether the team will move Nick Foles on the trade market. Of course, that assumes Carson Wentz will be ready to play when the 2018 season comes around.

Wentz tore his ACL and LCL late in the season against the Los Angeles Rams, ending what had the potential to be an MVP-campaign. Along with eventual MVP winner Tom Brady, the 25-year-old was leading his prolific offense nearly flawlessly to the top of their conference, going 11-2 while throwing for 3,296 yards, 33 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions.

Despite Foles' heroic performances in the NFC Championship game and Super Bowl LII, there's no question that Wentz will be the starter next season. According to ESPN's Tim McManus, his health for Week 1 will be a close call:

“Wentz has ditched the cane and is walking under his own power but was still wearing a brace at last check. Wentz intends to be ready for Week 1. Whether he's able to fulfill that goal depends on how rehab goes from here on. It could be close.”

Wentz has clearly progressed over the last month and a half as McManus notes, but a lot can happen between now and the Eagles' season opener. They will likely kickoff the 2018 season on the Thursday night of Week 1, a time slot traditionally held by the previous year's champion.

If everything goes according to plan with the rest of Wentz's recovery, it sounds like he'll take the field for what should be a joyous night for the Philadelphia faithful.
