Nick Foles' Jacksonville Jaguars debut did not last very long, as the quarterback suffered a broken clavicle in the first quarter of his team's 40-26 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Afterward, Foles' former teammate, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, reached out to Foles:

“I did reach out to Nick, and I love Nick to death and the competitor that he is, so that’s really a bummer and unfortunate,” Wentz said Wednesday, per Glenn Erby of Eagles Wire. “But that’s what we sign up for. When you play this game, there are so many things you can’t control, and I know he believes that. He believes that God’s using him for a reason, so to be able to go through it from a faith-filled standpoint for him, I know it’s tough, but I know he’ll handle it well.”

Foles, who has been placed on the injured reserve list and seems likely to miss the season, completed five of his eight passes for 75 yards and a touchdown before exiting.

The 30-year-old spent two separate stints with the Eagles, first playing for the team from 2012 through 2014. He was then traded to the St. Louis Rams, but he lasted just one disastrous season with the Rams, throwing for 2,052 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 11 starts.

Foles then landed with the Kansas City Chiefs in a reserve role in 2016 before finding his way back to Philadelphia in 2017. That season, he relieved an injured Wentz late in the year and ended up leading the Eagles to their first ever Super Bowl title.
