Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has been the subject of a whole lot of criticism this season.

The Eagles were expected by some to be legitimate Super Bowl contenders going into the year, but instead, they are just 5-6 and are fighting for their playoff lives as they enter their Week 13 matchup with the Miami Dolphins.

Of course, whenever a team struggles, the person who takes the brunt of the blame is frequently the quarterback. Wentz is no different.

To be fair, some of the criticism directed at Wentz has been justified. He has been inconsistent for much of the season, and over the last couple of weeks, he has not exactly played great football in a pair of Philadelphia losses.

The 26-year-old is remaining steadfast in his belief in himself in spite of his struggles.

“There’s always stress, there’s always pressure, there’s always that stuff, and for me, just to be confident in who I am, in the good, the bad, and the ugly,” said Wentz, according to Les Bowen of The Philadelphia Inquirer. “I don’t really get caught up in what people say [or] think, whether it’s good, whether it’s bad. I’m confident in who I am as a player.”

On the season, Wentz has thrown for 2,530 yards, 17 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 62.6 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 89.6.

Those aren't terrible numbers, but they are not what most anticipated from a player who is two years removed from the MVP conversation.

Philly is one game behind the Dallas Cowboys for first place in the NFC East.
