Since quarterback Nick Foles helped lead the Philadelphia Eagles to their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history last month, there has been a lingering possibility that the team could trade him. However, there has yet to be any significant movement from another team in pursuit of the reigning Super Bowl MVP.

As a result, the belief that Foles will wind up remaining with the team next season has grown, and according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, head coach Doug Pederson confirmed that is progressively hedging toward being the case.

The Eagles appear to content with keeping Foles aboard if no major offers are presented to them this offseason.  It is unlikely at this point that any team will meet the high price tag placed on the 29-year-old, unless things change drastically following the upcoming draft. There are still a few teams that need to address the quarterback position, and if they are unable to do so on draft day, Foles could become a target.

Until then, Foles looks to be headed toward resuming his role as the primary backup to Carson Wentz next season. His presence on the roster at least gives the Eagles assurance of stability under center if for any reason Wentz is unable to be ready for the 2018 season opener. Foles has more than proven that he can carry the team to success with his arm.

Philadelphia is clearly confident that he can step in for any duration of time and lead the franchise to their ultimate goal of winning another Super Bowl. Foles is currently in the second year of his two-year, $11 million contract where he is scheduled to make $7.6 million in base salary and bonuses.

The only question that remains around the Eagles is whether Wentz will be ready in time for the start of next season. If not, the Eagles will be ready to roll with Foles under center.
