A Florida man has been charged with assault after sucker-punching Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert at an Aberdeen, South Dakota bar.

According to Tim McManus of ESPN, Kyle Douglas Hadala was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released. A statement from the Aberdeen police department reads:

“A suspect has been charged with simple assault for allegedly punching TE Dallas Goedert. “It was discovered that an adult male had been punched in the face. The male was transported to Avera St. Lukes Hospital where he was treated and released … Investigation led to the arrest of Kyle Douglas Hadala, age 29 of Sarasota, Florida. He was charged with simple assault.”

The initial report of the incident was that Goedert was dining with family when he was sucker-punched unprovoked. That could still be the case but in surveillance video it's clear that the Eagles tight end was standing up before he was punched and knocked to the ground. Goedert appears to be moving someone back with his hand on someone else's chest when someone not on the frame came through and landed a punch.

Goedert is reported to be okay after the incident, which has to be relieving for Eagles fans. Goedert is often overshadowed by Zach Ertz but he is also one of the league's rising-star tight ends.

Goedert finished the 2019 season catching 58 passes for 607 yards and five touchdowns. The Eagles need him to be healthy heading into the 2020 season if the Eagles want to compete for another Super Bowl.
