With Carson Wentz traded in the offseason bu the Philadelphia Eagles to the Colts, Jalen Hurts figured to have a clear path to the starting quarterback gig. While that remains the case months later with training camp underway, some trade rumors won't go away.

Deshaun Watson's future both with the Texans and in the NFL is extremely foggy following numerous sexual misconduct accusations this offseason. It hasn't stopped the Eagles from discussing the possibility of trading for the Houston quarterback. Hurts spoke on the matter and via the Philadelphia Inquirer, he doesn't seem phased.

“What chatter? There’s a lot of chatter that goes on,” Hurts said. “I’m above it all. I control what I can. I’m here. That’s what I’m doing, going out there and being the quarterback for this team.”

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is said to be “monitoring” Watson's situation, thus opening up speculation that Philly could make a move and roll the dice. But, Roseman said all the right things on Wednesday about Hurts taking over as QB1.

“He’s done everything possible off the field and during the spring practices to take the reins, and we want to see him do that,” Roseman said. “This is a big year for any player that goes from year one to year two. So we’re excited to see that, see his growth, and working with the ones.”

It is indeed a big year for Hurts and for the Eagles as they try and figure out if they have a franchise quarterback in the 2020 second-round selection.
