Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has his new contract signed and Lane Johnson thinks this year is the year he will take another step forward. Johnson has been impressed with the way that Wentz has been attacking his rehab, and thinks that his mental state will help him with his game this season.

“I love it, every day when I go in the building, all I see is him in there before everybody else, rehabbing, doing whatever it takes.” Johnson said on NFL Network. “I just think he’s really on a different mental state than he’s ever been as far as training and ignoring distractions and really trying to be the best player he is. So, I just see that worker and a guy who is about to do some big things this season.”

Wentz comes into the 2019 season with all kinds of pressure, and it's good to hear that mentally he is in the right spot. Each of his last two years have been cut short because of injuries and this year there is no fallback plan with Nick Foles playing with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

When Wentz is healthy, he is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but injuries have always been a part of the story, and he is hoping that going forward the focus can just be on the play.

Last year, before going down with injury, Wentz threw for 3,074 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. The hope is another big year with all 16 games played and some extra playoff games thrown in as a bonus.
