The Philadelphia Eagles haven't had the season they were hoping for so far this season, and a big reason is they have gotten off to really slow starts in games and it's something that offensive coordinator Mike Groh is trying to fix. They have failed to score in the first quarter in seven of the nine games played so far this year.

On Tuesday Groh was asked about the problems and he said a lot of time and thought has gone into how to fix the problems.

“If it was one thing, it would be an easy fix,” Groh said via the Philly Daily News. “But it's a little bit of this, and a little bit of that. Kind of everybody has taken a share of that. We're pointing those things out that need to be corrected. Trust me when I say this, we're spending a lot of time trying to get it fixed.”

The other thing that Groh knows is important is to get Golden Tate more involved in the offense. They brought him in to be a big part of the offense but in his first start with the Eagles he only had two catches for 19 yards.

“We brought him here to play him a lot. You know how it is in the first week, where he's just building the foundation, and we had a healthy package of plays [in the game plan] … He and the coaches worked really hard to prepare, to be ready to go in there,” Groh said. “Like coach [Doug Pederson] mentioned, some of that may have been taken away a little bit when we got in some of the no-huddle stuff … But we had a healthy package of plays for him, and we'll continue to build on that.”

The Eagles currently sit with a 4-5 record with a big showdown on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. If the Eagles get out to a slow start in that game, they will not have a chance and they can probably kiss their playoff hopes goodbye.
