Following an impressive season that was capped off with a Super Bowl win, the Philadelphia Eagles have continued to secure their long-term future this NFL offseason. The front office has been quite active in putting together a roster that can remain on the upswing.

One of these moves was put forth on Thursday afternoon with the team deciding to pick up the fifth-year option on head coach Doug Pederson deal that now runs through the 2020 season, according to Tom Pelissero of The NFL Network.

Through his first two years with the Eagles, Pederson holds a 20-12 record including a 3-0 mark in the postseason that all came in this past playoff appearance. He helped guide Philadelphia to a 13-3 mark, which was the top record in the NFC while winning the NFC East division title for the first time since the 2013 season.

Pederson has quickly built the Eagles into a juggernaut in the NFL that has embodied his aggressive coaching style that played a big part in pushing his team to the Super Bowl. His quick success with the team has quickly garnered much respect around the league for the transition he has made in his first head coach gig. With Pederson under contract for at least the next three years, it silences any questions regarding his long-term future with the franchise.

The focus can now shift back immediately to the Eagles pushing forward a team that can defend their Super Bowl title. The front office has been busy adding proven talent to the roster this offseason to further strengthen them on both sides of the ball.

At this point, the only serious question is the health of Pro Bowl quarterback Carson Wentz, who is currently recovering from an ACL and LCL tear last December that has put his status up in the air for the start of the 2018 campaign.
