“The Bodyguard” will be back in the City of Brotherly Love for at least one more season. The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Monday that the team has re-signed stalwart left tackle Jason Peters to a one-year deal.

ESPN's Tim McManus subsequently reported that Peters' new contract includes $5.5 million in guarantees, with incentives related to playing time pushing it to a maximum amount of $10 million.

The Eagles and their players showered the 37 year old with praise on social media after the signing was announced.

Franchise quarterback Carson Wentz and fellow Pro Bowl tackle Lane Johnson welcomed Peters back with open arms, while the team posted a video tribute highlighting the veteran's 10 seasons in Philadelphia.

There was some speculation following the 2018 season that Peters' days with the Eagles were numbered. Player and team instead agreed to a restructured contract that more accurately reflects Peters' standing relative to other tackles and gives the team a bit more flexibility under the salary cap.

Coach Doug Pederson expressed optimism last week that Peters would ultimately return to Philadelphia for an 11th season.

“Jason Peters is a valuable part of our offense and our offensive line,” he said, per Eagles.com. “Jason, I feel, still has some opportunity for us. We’ll see how it goes. We’ll see where it ends up.”

Peters, 37, returned from a torn ACL suffered in 2017 to start all 16 games for the Eagles.

The nine-time Pro-Bowler and six-time All-Pro was on the field for 79 percent of his team's offensive snaps during the regular season, and 88 percent of Philadelphia's snaps in the playoffs.
