The Philadelphia Eagles have made a rather interesting signing to bolster their wide receiver room. On Friday, the team agreed to terms with former Oregon wideout Devon Allen, who competed in each of the last two Summer Olympics as a hurdler.
The #Eagles signed WR & Olympic hurdler Devon Allen. Allen placed top-5 in each of the last 2 Olympics in the 110m hurdles.
He last played football at Oregon in 2016. He took part in the school’s Pro Day last week and ran a blazing 4.35 40-yard dash. Philly now bring him in. 👀 pic.twitter.com/GHTEC12kar

As noted, Allen hasn't played football since 2016 with the Ducks. But, he impressed heavily at Oregon's recent Pro Day, putting his speed on full display with a 4.35 40-yard dash. That led to a visit with the Eagles, who signed him to a three-year deal.
Allen struggled to stay healthy in Eugene, playing in only nine games across his last two years because of various knee injuries. His freshman season was terrific though, grabbing 41 receptions for 684 yards. Allen also posted seven touchdowns.
The speed is clearly there and to be honest, the Eagles need more help out wide for Hurts. They finished 25th in passing yards in 2021, with rookie DeVonta Smith proving to be about their only standout WR. Tight end Dallas Goedert also had a solid year.
Philly will need both of these guys to rise to the occasion again and potentially, Devon Allen can play a part as well in the offense. It will be interesting to see what he brings to the table for the Eagles.
