Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz is missing on the practice field before a must-win Week 17 matchup against the New York Giants with a rib and back injury.

Ertz took a shot to the ribs last week from Dallas Cowboys defensive back Xavier Woods in the first half that sent the Pro Bowl tight end to the locker room. Ertz returned to the game, but it was second-year tight end Dallas Goedert who received most of the attention from quarterback Carson Wentz.

Philadelphia will make the playoffs if they beat the Giants, but will not if they lose and the Dallas Cowboys beat the Washington Redskins.

The Eagles are dealing with a plethora injuries and have been for the entire season, but will have some luck in getting running back Jordan Howard back.

In addition to Ertz, wide receiver Nelson Agholor, right tackle Lane Johnson, wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, defensive end Derek Barnett, guard Brandon Brooks, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, and cornerback Jalen Mills are all on the injury report.

Despite the flurry of injuries, the Eagles were able to beat the Dallas Cowboys for the division lead and now control their own destiny.

Ertz is having another great season for the Eagles, providing a security blanket for Wentz with 88 receptions for 916 yards and six touchdowns. Last season was a career-year for Ertz, with 116 receptions for 1,163 yards and eight touchdowns.

While the season is proving to be an ugly one for the Eagles, the team is a great position to lock itself in for a playoff spot.
