Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two will be streaming on Max soon.
The film is fresh off of a highly successful box office run. Villeneuve's first Dune film grossed a little over $400 million worldwide. However, it suffered from being a part of Warner Bros' “day and date” release strategy. That meant that the film was released theatrically and on the then-HBO Max simultaneously.
That took a bite out of its potential box office earnings. As the sequel, which was released exclusively in theaters on March 1, 2024,
To date, Dune: Part Two has grossed $710 million worldwide, a vast improvement over its predecessor. It opened to double of the first film's domestic opening weekend and grossed over $170 million more in the United States alone. Overseas, the sequel made an astonishing $428.5 million.

This means that fans can rewatch the film endlessly soon on Warner Bros' streaming service. The studio waited it out as long as possible after giving the film a proper theatrical run and home media release before putting it on Max.

Dune: Part Two closed out Denis Villeneuve's two-part adaptation of Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi epic. Previously on the big screen, David Lynch attempted to adapt the book in one fell swoop in his 1984 film featuring the likes of Kyle MacLachlan, Patrick Stewart, Max von Sydow, and Sting.
After gaining notoriety for directing the likes of Prisoners, Enemy, and Sicario, Villeneuve began a sci-fi-heavy portion of his career. His last four films were all in the genre — Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and the two Dune films.
It's unlikely that this is Villeneuve's last adventure on Arrakis. He has been very vocal about adapting Frank Herbert's follow-up novel, Dune Messiah. After the success of Part Two, Messiah feels like an inevitability.
