Hampton alumna Brooke Hart Jones is changing the toy industry one doll at a time via her company HBCyoU Dolls. Jones is the creator of HBCyoU Dolls, a toy line that has dolls that proudly wear HBCU apparel.

Jones decided to create the first line of HBCU dolls back in 2020 after being unable to find a fair representation of toys for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Per the official website, “Through HBCyoU Dolls Brooke shares the magic and legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities with children far and wide.”

The Texas native and HBCU alumni of Hampton University shared in an interview with USA Today, “I was looking for them to buy as a birthday gift. I am a former toy buyer. I have a background in merchandising… and I'm a lifelong doll lover, and a proud HBCU alum.”

A proud business woman and lifelong doll lover, Jones has since launched numerous dolls with Purpose Toys Co., a proud supporter of black businesses, featuring schools such as Morehouse, Florida A&M, Hampton, and Spelman coming in numerous shades with various hair textures.

Purpose Toys Company provides the “infrastructure and resources” needed to succeed in business. With the corporation's motto being to provide “Product with a Purpose”. Her success has taken her brand to companies as large as Target,Walmart, Amazon and Sam's Club reaching a national market.

Jones stated, “We're very proud of that. We want to use it as an opportunity to plant the seed of higher learning, and use it as a tool to teach history… spread our legacy and champion and highlight and preserve the legacy of historically black colleges and universities.”
