On the heels of Rolling Stone's expose on Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show, the host has apologized to his staff.
Rolling Stone reported on Fallon's “toxic workplace” backstage at The Tonight Show. Now, Deadline is reporting that Fallon spoke to his staff yesterday afternoon after the expose published.
“I'm sorry if I embarrassed you. I never set out to create that type of atmosphere at the show. I think sometimes I'm working with the best of the best, you guys are the top of the game,” Fallon told his staff, according to someone on the call. “I want this show to be fun, it should be inclusive for everybody, it should be funny, it should be the best show. I just wanted to… say I miss you guys.”

Some called Fallon “erratic” and suggested that he was “inebriated” during working hours. Seven of the former employees claimed that their mental health was impacted by their tenure on the show.
However, sources told Deadline that the new showrunner, Chris Miller, has improved the work culture of The Tonight Show and that these claims are “old.”
Jimmy Fallon gained fame by being a cast member on NBC's SNL from 1994-2004. He'd then jump to hosting Late Night with Jimmy Fallon from 2009-2014. In 2014, he would make the leap over to hosting another NBC gig, The Tonight Show. He has continued to be the host since 2014, with over 1,800 episodes to date.
