Kenny Mayne became a legendary SportsCenter anchor at ESPN thanks to his dry sense of humor and wit, and his imprint was all over other ESPN broadcasts and commercials over the years. Unfortunately, it looks like Mayne's time with ESPN is now over.

The 61-year-old took to Twitter on Monday to announce that he's departing ESPN as a salary cap casualty:

This is devastating for all the people who grew up watching Kenny Mayne on ESPN. Mayne helped SportsCenter reach its peak popularity back in the day. Debate shows have since taken over as the dominant programming, but we'll never forget the work Mayne did to make SportsCenter and the company as a whole awesome.

ESPN hired Mayne way back in 1994. He held several different roles before joining the similarly legendary Dan Patrick as a SportsCenter co-host a few years later. Mayne was off and on SportsCenter throughout the years, all while taking part in numerous other projects, including Mayne Street and Kenny Mayne's Wider World of Sports.

Here's just a tase of some of Kenny Mayne's finest work for the company:

Pour one out for one of the best to ever do it at ESPN. Kenny Mayne's presence will be missed by many, with tributes already pouring in on social media.
