Throughout the years, we’ve witnessed many stars born from Twitch. Streamers such as Ninja, Tfue, Myth, Shroud, and Pokimane all made names for themselves via the streaming platform. In fact, it’s safe to say that a lot of them experienced wealth thanks to the donations from their loyal viewers. However, recently a Reddit user posted a question “Why do people actually donate to Twitch Streamers?” FortniteNoobEpicGame quickly clarified that he pertaining to the already successful Twitch Streamers.

Recently, Twitch Streamer Pokimane saw this Reddit post and she had some words to say regarding the matter. She goes on to say “People don’t go as far to think ‘how much does this person need my money?’ People donate because they want someone’s attention.” She then points out “We’re not all spending money logically 24/7. We do things for other reasons.” Then she said stuff like “If anything, the richer someone becomes the more valuable their attention becomes.” While this may be the case for some viewers, this might also be a case of stereotyping viewers.

The reason why these so-called “Rich Content Creators” got to where they are right now is because of their content. Viewers aren’t just in it for attention, they simply want to show some love to their favorite streamer. While supporting small-time streamers makes perfect sense, there’s no harm in supporting the big dogs. As long as the viewer is happy with the content, donations are sure to come a streamer’s way.
