The Suicide Squad's Director James Gunn has revealed some awesome new info about the film's post-credits scene that confirms one of the characters to have survived.

Peacemaker will make a scary comeback

At the end of the film, we see John Cena's character Peacemaker fatally shot by Bloodsport (Idris Elba). We then see Jotunheim collapse and subsequently crushed by the debris.

However, after the credits rolled, we see a clip where Peacemaker apparently made it out alive. He was then visited by Amanda Waller's staff as he was recovering in the hospital.

Gunn has now revealed that he originally planned for Peacemaker to stay dead. However, the character's spin-off series caused him to make some changes.

“It got added because [of] the TV show,” he told Collider. “I didn't say I was going to do the TV show until after the movie was basically finished being cut.

“So then I got asked to do the TV show, and then I said I would do it. Then when we started shooting the TV show, I shot the post-credit scene.”

Elaborating more on the Peacemaker spin-off, the director told IndieWire: “I think a lot of the characters change a lot in this movie. Peacemaker, he doesn’t, and if anything, he changes for the worst.”

Gunn also talked about the other post-credits scene, which sees Weasel (Sean Gunn) emerges and cough up water, confirming that he survived. 

“I think I was hoping I could put something else at the very end of the credits because I really liked where that first post-credit scene is now,” the director said. “I think it lays in nicely. It's just a part of the story. You know what I mean?”

“The post-credit to the post-credit scene. It's really its own thing, setting up something else. But the first post-credit scene is a part of the story in a way. It's sort of ironic that after all this time, that's what occurred.”

James Gunn has made another masterpiece. A true testament to his genius. The Suicide Squad is available in theaters and for streaming in HBO MAX.
