It has been a very tough season for many fantasy football managers. This year has been wildly unpredictable, between COVID-19 outbreaks, injuries and inconsistent play. Even people on television paid to analyze and talk about fantasy football have felt the pains for the 2021 NFL season. ESPN fantasy football analyst Field Yates shared a sentiment that many others can probably relate to.

Yates retweeted the post announcing that Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pro Bowl wide receiver Mike Evans has been ruled out for Week 16. The Buccaneers also lost wide receiver Chris Godwin for the rest of the season with a torn ACL. Both players were hurt in Sunday night's shutout loss to the New Orleans Saints.

It's probably safe to assume that ESPN's Field Yates didn't actually lose his entire team. But there are no shortages of COVID-19 related problems that put him in that quandry.

Field Yates' Potential Fantasy Football Team

Quarterback Lamar Jackson is on the wrong side of questionable to play Sunday for the Baltimore Ravens. That's likely his quarterback.

Evans and Godwin are just the tip of the iceberg plaguing fantasy managers. Buffalo Bills wide receivers Gabriel Davis and Cole Beasley were both placed into the league's COVID-19 protocols this week. Davis has emerged lately as a dependable WR3. That is where Beasley had ranked most of the season also.

San Francisco 49ers tailback Elijah Mitchell missed Thursday's game. Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler was placed into COVID protocols this week after testing positive. Both Eagles' Miles Sanders and Washington's Antonio Gibson are yet to practice this week.

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller also appears to be on track for another missed game.

It's very possible that Yates' team would have been consisting of Lamar Jackson at QB, Austin Ekeler and Antonio Gibson at RB, Mike Evans and DJ Moore at WR, with Waller at TE. That likely would have been a fantasy football playoff team that has no one left to play in the semi finals this weekend.
