Julio Jones has held out all offseason in order to get a raise. The Atlanta Falcons told him no. And now, their star wide receiver is planning to continue his holdout through training camp.

Given the magnitude of Jones’ importance to the team, the fact that he’s now set to sit out training camp would likely warrant intervention from ownership. But Falcons owner Arthur Blank doesn’t think it’s time for him to get involved just yet.

“I have full faith in TD (Thomas Dimitroff) and DQ (Dan Quinn) to handle this in the best manner that is feasible for us,” Blank said to Jeff Schultz of The Athletic. “We love Julio, and I have said our wishes are that he be a Falcon for life. As always, I am available to our staff as needed and at appropriate times.”

Blank and the Falcons haven’t had to deal with many holdout cases over the years. Their most notable holdout was wide receiver Roddy White, who sat out the first week of training camp and was eventually rewarded with a big contract.

Despite still having three years on his current deal, the Falcons have already promised to renegotiate Jones’ deal next offseason. But Jones doesn’t appear satisfied with that compromise and looks determined to get his new deal this year.

Blank has made it clear that he wants Julio Jones to be a Falcon forever. But while he’s willing to stay patient for now and allow his front office to do their job, he may just have to step in at some point if the Jones situation remains unsolved.
