It is the biggest date in the Formula 1 racing calendar as racers converge on Circuit de Monaco and the Monaco Grand Prix. It is time to continue our Formula 1 odds series with a Monaco Grand Prix prediction and pick.

The Monaco Grand Prix began in 1929 and has become one of the most important races in all of motorsports. The race takes place at Circuit de Monaco. It is a street circuit course primarily in the neighborhood of Monte Carlo in Monaco, although parts of it stretch into La Condamine. The course is set up over 2.074 miles or 3.337 kilometers. It is unique in that it is the only Grand Prix race shorter than 190 miles, the minimum set by the International Automobile Federation. The track is also known for tight turns and narrow streets, plus a tunnel. While this layout makes it one of the slower tracks in terms of track speed, it is one of the most dangerous and demanding.

The Monaco Grand Prix is also known to be part of the Triple Crown of Motorsports. It joins the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Indianapolis 500 in that regard. This race is also traditionally held on the same day as the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600.

Favorites To Win Monaco Grand Prix

Max Verstappen sits on top of the odds board for this and is the clear favorite. This is fairly normal for Verstappen. He has been dominant since 2021. That year he won his first title and took first place in 10 of 22 races. Verstappen would only improve. In 2022 it was 15 wins and then, last year, he won 19 of 22 races. Verstappen has finished off the podium just twice in his last 29 races. After a second-place finish in Miami, he got back to winning last time out. Verstappen took first narrowly at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Verstappen has also won this race two or the last three years.

Charles Leclerc is also having a stellar year. This is coming off a fifth-placed finish for the 2023 season. In seven races this year, he has finished on the podium four times and has yet to finish worse than fourth place. Still, Leclerc has not won a race since the 2022 season, when he finished second overall. He won the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix, which was the last time he would find himself on top of the podium, Since then, he has finished second seven times, including once this year. Leclear, who was born in Monte Carlo, Monaco, has yet to break through at this race though. His best finish here was in 2022 when he finished fourth.

Lando Norris rounds out the favorites. He is also coming in off a solid year. Last week he lost by under a second at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, falling to Max Verstappen. The week before that he won the 2024 Miami Grand Prix, the first win of his career. He now has three straight podium finishes and four in total in the seven races this year. Norris also has a podium finish at Monaco. He finished third in 2021. Norris will also be behind the wheel of a McLaren. McLaren has won the most Monaco Grand Prix races, but also has not won since 2008 when Lewis Hamilton won the race.

Sleepers To Win  Monaco Grand Prix

Sergio Perez is well down the odds board, but is also the most recent champion at Monaco not named Max Verstappen. Perez currently is in third place in the points standing this year and has found his way to the podium four times this season. Those were all earlier in the season though. Perez was second place in three of the first four races, and then got third in the fifth race of the year. Last time out he was eighth, the worst race of his year so far. While Perez did win at Monaco in 2022, and was fourth in 2021. He has had some struggles. Last year, it was a 16th-placed finish for Perez, and in 2017-2019 he finished outside the top ten each year.

Lewis Hamilton has yet to finish the podium this year.  His best finish of the season has been sixth place, which he was last time out, and in Miami. Still, Hamilton has had some solid performances here at Monaco. Last year was a fourth-place finish, and he won here in 2-19 and 2016. Further, he had podium finishes in 2014, 2015, and 2018. While Hamilton is now one of the older drivers in F1, he still had races of magic, and this could be one.

Yuki Tsunoda is currently in tenth in points right now and is not a major threat to win this race. However, he is a major threat to make a top-ten appearance in this one. He has been in the top ten in four of the last five races overall. This is the best stretch of racing he has had in his young career. Tsunoda has not had a lot of success at Monaco though, with his best finish being 15th last year.

Monaco Grand Prix Prediction & Pick

Max Verstappen is the clear favorite in this one, and with a tight track and a short race, the favorites normally do well bearing an accident.  Verstappen will most likely win this race, but bets for podium finishes or top-ten finishes are also still good.

Monaco Grand Prix Prediction & Pick: Max Verstappen Winner (-140), Norris Podium Finish (-180), Tsundo Top Ten (-105)
