Favorites To Win Cup Series at Charlotte

Kyle Larson will be attempting to get a win in the second race of double duty on Sunday. No driver performing double duty, going from the Indy 500 to the Coca-Cola 600 has ever won the race. The closest was Tony Stewart in 2011 when he finished third after a sixth-place finish at the Indy 500. Last year, this race did not go well for Larson, finishing 30th after an accident. He did win here in 2021 and won two all-star races here in 2019. Outside of races in which he has been involved in an accident, Larson has been in the top ten each of the last nine times he has raced on this track. Three races were cut short by accident though.

Denny Hamlin sits second on the odds board this year. He also had a rough 2023 at this track. He led 20 laps and would finish 35th after an accident. Still, he won this race in 2022 and was second place in 2020. Hamlin has led laps in four of the last six races here, and nine of the last 14 races on this track. Hamlin also comes into this race running well. He was second last week at the all-star race, and in the three prior races, finished fifth, fourth, and won. Hamlin already has three wins and leads the series in points currently.

Tyler Reddick has been solid in his five starts here. In his five races on this track, only once has Reddick finished outside the top ten. Further, he has led laps in each of his last two races on this track. In 2022, he started eighth, led 19 laps, and finished sixth. Last year, it was 28 laps led after starting 15th and finishing fifth. Still, things have not been great for Reddick as of late. He won at Talladega, and since then, he has been 11th, 20th, and 32nd. Last week at the all-star race he was 14th.

William Byron will be looking to grab a win at this track for the first time in a point-producing race. He has won once, finishing first in the 2019 all-star race. Still, he has had some solid showings. Last time on this track, Byron was second after leading 91 laps. He has led laps in each of the last four races on this track and also has a fourth-place finish here. Byron had a solid stretch this year, winning at COTA, and then two weeks later at Martins Ville. He struggled later in the year at Dover and Kansas, with 33rd and 23rd-placed finishes, but he bounced back with a sixth-place finish at Darlington.

Sleepers To Win Cup Series at Charlotte

Kyle Busch does not have a win this year and has finished in the top five just twice on the season, but he made headlines this past week. He got into an altercation with Ricken Stenhouse Jr. at the All-Star race which resulted in Stenhouse throwing a punch. Now Busch looks to put that behind him and get a win. He has been very good here in his last nine races on this track. Busch has finished inside the top ten in eight of the nine races. He won after leading 377 laps in 2018 and would finish second once, and third three more times in the last nine races. Further, Busch has led laps in 11 of the last 13 races on this track.

Stenhouse was fined by NASCAR for his part in the altercation and has not had a great year. He finished fourth at the Gieco 500 but that is his only top-five finish this year. Stenhouse has also been solid here as of late. He finished seventh in each. of the last two races on this track. Further, he finished fourth in 2020 and fifth in 2019.

Cup Series at Charlotte Prediction & Pick

It will be hard for Kyle Larson to get a win here coming off racing the in Indianapolis 500. Still, he could have a solid performance. Denny Hamlin has been great as of late, while both Tyler Reddick and William Byron have had some great success this year. Those three should all compete for a top spot in this race.

Cup Series at Charlotte Prediction & Pick: Denny Hamlin winner (+600), Tyler Reddick Top 5 (+110), William Byron Top 5 (+130)
