The annual G League Showcase will take place in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center from December 19-22, and players on the winning team will receive $100,000 in prize money, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Major changes to how the Showcase was conducted were first implemented last season. Previously, one G League team was tasked with hosting the Showcase, with Missisauga, Ontario's Raptors 905 and the Santa Cruz Warriors playing host in recent years. The event had also taken place in January since its inception, but moved up approximately three weeks beginning in 2018-19.

Last year's event was at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay. Completely new this season is the tournament format that ends the four-day competition.

The Showcase is essentially a massive scouting event for NBA teams who are interested in potentially poaching players from the G-League. It's especially helpful because shortly after the event is when teams are permitted to sign players to 10-day contracts, an increasingly common tool used throughout the second half of the season as injuries, wear and tear, and other factors incentivize teams to bring in new talent and fortify depth issues.

Last year's Showcase standouts include LA Clippers two-way player Jonathan Motley, Orlando Magic two-way player Amile Jefferson, and Chicago Bulls guard Antonio Blakeney.
