Dave the Diver is coming out on the Nintendo Switch on October 26, 2023. The game was developed and self-published by Mintrocket. Pre-ordering the game will get you Switch-exclusive rewards: a bonus skin for Dave's boat and an exclusive lamp decoration for the sushi restaurant. The game is also available on PC through Steam.

Gameplay

Dave the Diver is a cozy action game with loads of side content. Players take control of the eponymous main character as they dive through the sea, hunting and collecting seafood and other ingredients for their sushi restaurant. The main gameplay loop revolves around collecting seafood and exploring the depths of the sea, serving food in the sushi restaurant, managing the sushi restaurant's staff, stock, and prices, and using the money you earn from sales to upgrade your diving gear, rinse, and repeat.

Various NPCs would interact with Dave and progress the story, giving Dave side quests, and unlocking new content as players complete them.

Deeper into the depths of the sea, players will discover that there's more than meets the eye for what initially seemed like an unassuming body of water. Players will get to unearth secrets, follow mysteries, and discover artifacts as they go deeper and deeper into the depths.

Story

The game follows Dave the Diver, employed in the service of a rich businessman who decided to open up a sushi restaurant in the middle of the sea. Dave collects seafood and other ingredients for the sushi restaurant, and wacky events happen along the way. The game has a very chill vibe and an unserious tone, not taking itself too seriously, making fun of itself, and presenting a self-aware humor.
