Not because Dying Light 2 will be coming out in December this year means that Techland has forsaken the original. Instead, fans of Dying Light Hellraid got a surprise from the developers. Hellraid first came out in July 2020, inspired by a canceled Techland project from 2015. However, the DLC felt more like an afterthought, and fans disliked how the DLC is short on story and content. After all, Hellraid was only meant to be a side-mode of Dying Light where players get to survive a horde of zombies in medieval gear. However, that didn't excuse the DLC from being void of content, sucking out the fun out of it from the get-go.

Thankfully, Techland didn't just stop there and call it a day. Instead, they've surprised fans by introducing a new update to Hellraid. The new update introduces more quests to the story mode, with future updates coming to unveil the plot. “New challenges to face, new areas to discover, and an ally who needs your help – an ancient conflict reignites and you must prepare for an inevitable clash,” the Dying Light Hellraid DLC's update page reads. Completing your tasks in the new challenges here will unlock the Corrupted Justice, a powerful bow that can tip the balance of evil.

The developers also improved the overall lighting of Ba'al's Temple, Dying Light Hellraid‘s exclusive world. There will also be a new enemy type – a skeleton with a large shield. Killing it might make it drop a powerful two-handed hammer, the Bonecrusher. The same hammer can be obtained by reaching the new rank – Vanquisher.

Perhaps these new updates should help old Dying Light players revisit the Hellraid DLC. With new things in store, this update can help tide the wait until Dying Light 2 comes out later this year.
