Gears 5, the popular third-person shooter from Microsoft, has indirectly announced its latest downloadable content. The members of the WWE stable The New Day are coming to Gears 5 as playable DLC characters. Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, and Big E were announced to be coming to the shooter. Xavier Woods took to Twitter to express his surprise and joy at the development.

Woods is a huge fan of the Gears of Wars franchise so this was a welcome development for the WWE superstar. It's a treat for fans of both WWE and the Gears to see these two worlds collide. The members of The New Day aren't strangers to video games. The trio made a Final Fantasy-inspired entrance in Wrestlemania 33. The three wrestlers dressed as characters from FFXIV: Stormblood to show off their love for the game.

Who wouldn't want to play stealth missions as John Cena? Fans of Gears 5 may be eager to play any of the WWE superstars in their games but it will have to wait. Microsoft has made no announcements regarding the launch date of the DLC.
Unexpected collaborations such as these aren't new in video games. However, it's still a delightful surprise for fans when crossovers take place in their favorite games. It'll absolutely help if the collaborators, like Xavier Woods, actually love the game they're entering. Hopefully, we'll be able to see more real-life stars and characters in video games.
