If the most recent rumors and reports are to be true, we have an actual idea of the Metal Gear Solid Remake release date for the Playstation 5 (PS5). It should be harshly noted, however, that while the rumors are coming from people who proved to be accurate in the past, we're fresh off reports of Mass Effect 5 being off by several months — though, to be fair, the global pandemic is surely playing a part in dates changing.
Metal Gear Solid Remake Release Date: Quarter 4 2021
Apparently, the Metal Gear Solid Remake release date coincides with a plan by Sony to destroy Microsoft's plan to release the next Halo edition around that same time. An alleged carpet bombing tactic often used as talking points when discussing console wars.
Article Continues BelowOther information currently provided is that this game is actually done (or, at the very least, very close to it). It's reportedly been worked on for roughly three years by the same team who overhauled Demon Souls for the Playstation 5. The control schemes from Phantom Pain are said to be carrying over to the remake; though we're unsure about the graphics, engine and how any of the advances in technology will hurt/hinder or help a remake of a game that used limited-graphics to its advantage to create a stealth game with horror elements.
Honestly, that's all that's currently known about the remake and release date. There's speculation that the game might be announced during The Video Game Awards, but if it's already done, and Sony doesn't plan on dropping it until the very end of 2021, this announcement would seem rather premature. That being said, it would obviously help the company, as Sony continues to emphasize PS5 exclusives.
Nonetheless, if the reports are true, and even if we have to wait a full year, the Metal Gear Solid Remake release date isn't so far off that we can't already get excited about it.
